Sean Astin (born February 25, 1971) is an American actor well known for his roles in Rudy, The Goonies (with Robert Davi and Joe Pantoliano) and the Lord of the Rings trilogy (with Sean Bean and Viggo Mortensen). Astin has also had supporting roles in films such as Where the Day Takes You (with Christian Slater), Encino Man, The Low Life, Bulworth and 50 First Dates (with Michelle C. Lee). Astin has guest-starred and had recurring roles for television shows such as "Jeremiah", "Las Vegas", "Into the West", "Monk" (with Michael Cavanaugh), "24", "NCIS", "Law & Order: Special Victim's Unit" (with Ice-T), "Franklin and Bash", "Alphas" and "The Strain" (with Andrew Divoff).

Astin appeared in the Die Hard scenario movies Toy Soldiers and Icebreaker.
