Reginald VelJohnson (born August 16, 1952) is a character actor and comedian who, outside of his role as Sgt. Al Powell in the first two Die Hard films, is best known for his role as Carl Otis Winslow on the ABC/CBS sitcom "Family Matters" which ran from 1989 to 1998. VelJohnson also appeared in films such as Ghostbusters (with Ernie Hudson), Crocodile Dundee, Turner & Hooch and Like Mike. VelJohnson currently stars on the TV series "Hart of Dixie" and also briefly had recurring roles on "CSI" (with Paul Guilfoyle), "The Bold and the Beautiful", "Mike & Molly" and the short-lived animated series "TRON: Uprising". VelJohnson was also the only member of the first two Die Hard films to reprise his role as Al Powell in two video game spin-offs of the film franchise and even reprised the role once more on a Christmas-themed episode of the NBC comedy series "Chuck".
