Angela Bassett (born August 16, 1958) is an American actress who portrayed Secret Service director Lynne Jacobs in Olympus Has Fallen and is set to portray Jacobs again in London Has Fallen.


Bassett is well known for her biographical film roles portraying real-life women, including Tina Turner in What's Love Got to Do with It, as well as Betty Shabazz in Malcolm X and Panther, Rosa Parks in The Rosa Parks Story, Katherine Jackson in The Jacksons: An American Dream, and Voletta Wallace in Notorious.

Her other film roles include Boyz n the Hood, Vampire in Brooklyn, Contact, How Stella Got Her Groove Back, Music of the Heart, Supernova (with Robert Forster), The Score, Akeelah and the Bee and Green Lantern (with Temuera Morrison). She has shared the screen various times with the likes of Forest Whitaker, Laurence Fishburne, Denzel Washington and Dylan McDermott.

Bassett also appeared in television shows, including "The Cosby Show", "Thirtysomething" and "Alias". She starred in the 15th and final season of the NBC medical drama "ER" and also was recently seen on "American Horror Story". In 2013, she appeared as Coretta Scott King in well-received telefilm Betty and Coretta.
